New Year, New “Hue”

The beginning of each new year is typically a time where we anticipate a lot of things—cooler temps and unlimited opportunities to decorate inside.   For the decorating obsessed among us, it’s also a time to anticipate the new color forecasts of the season.

Paint is an easy and inexpensive way to brighten your home as well as prepare your house for selling.  The New Year is synonymous with fresh starts, and that includes anticipation of fresh new additions to the Real Estate market!

Each year, paint giants tap their resident experts for their predictions on which hues will make a splash in the coming year, based on everything from current trends to the collective mood of the moment. Last year, we watched as brighter, bolder hues were unveiled in anticipation of a year filled with optimism and confidence.  Seems we will get another chance at that in the coming year.

However in  2021—judging by the soon-to-be-trending shades that have been released thus far—the needle seems to be moving in a more subdued direction leaning more toward colors inspired by nature and nostalgia.  When the world experiences events that cause unrest, anxiety, and grief, people naturally gravitate towards more soothing, calm colors.

Predictions for 2012 include a trio of earthy neutrals— beige, pale blue, and a muted ginger can provide the ultimate cozy feeling within the home.  In addition, light neutrals and healing shades of blues and greens increase relaxation spaces both inside and out.  The optimism is highlighted by the addition of bright, complementary colors that will add a pop of color.  Complementary hues include turquoise, yellow, and mild magenta.

Based on the events of the past year,  we will  gladly take comfort with a side of happiness in 2021!
